An 18-Year-Old Girl Marries a dog in India in what was termed as
a
tribunal ritual of warding off an evil spell. Mangli Munda, 18, from a
remote village in eastern parts of Jharkand state, wedded the carnivore
in one of the most colorful ceremonies. The decision to marry a dog was
reached after the parents of the girl
believed that Mangli possessed ill-luck and by marrying a man would
bring bad omen to the family and the community at large. The shocked
dog, Sheru, was found by the girls’ father and was led to the wedding
scene in a chauffeur driven motorcade and received by the revelers. The
girl, Mangli, who has not been to school reentry , said that though she
was not for this idea of marrying a dog, she was happy with the wedding
as long as it would change her fortunes.
The baffled bride said: “I’m getting married to a dog because the elders
believe that by doing so my evil spell would be passed on to the dog”.
“After this ceremony, I intend to get married to a man in future and the
man will now have a long life”.
It’s clear from her words that she intends to marry a man in future; but
nobody has an idea whether there would be a man who’ll be interested to
marry a woman once married to a dog.
What’s your opinion about this union?
